Howell township hiccup

The Howell Township wastewater treatment facility
collection system discharged about 1,400 gallons
of sanitary sewage into a storm sewer Thursday.

According to a press release, the discharge was
due to a “damaged force main at the intersection
of Grand River Avenue and Burkhart Road.

The damaged force main was discovered around
10:45 a.m. and was “immediately stopped,”
the release stated.

The discharge has been reported to the
Michigan Department of Environmental Quality
and the Livingston County Health Department.
